Good Deeds
About a month ago, my fourteen year-old daughter and I were hunting one of our usual spots near UNC. She got a "good beep" and we were amazed when a 1956 Manhasset High School class ring popped out of the ground with the initials “LSS” on the inside. When we got home, she Googled Manhasset High and found the school site with a link for lost and found class rings but to no avail. We contacted the librarian at the school and she located two people with the initials “LSS” in a 1956 yearbook.
We located Les and offered to mail his ring to him. Les said he would like to come out and meet Alice and I and invited us to choose a place for lunch. So this past Saturday we met, and he and his wife, and my wife, daughters, and I had a wonderful lunch in Chapel Hill, whereupon we returned his ring. My daughter and I were both amazed by the turn of events, and I know he was thrilled to get the ring back.
Carolyn contacted the club with a plea for help. She had lost her phone while horseback riding in a field near Henderson. Mark came to the rescue and located her lost phone that contained all of her imporatnt contacts that could NOT be replaced. Great job Mark!
