Discovering History
We are always interested in searching older yards & homesites!
What was lost in your yard? What's below the surface?
Who We Are
Triangle Relic Recovery & Historical Preservation Association (TRR) is a nonprofit organization of history enthusiasts, located in Raleigh, NC. Our club members come from all walks of life including law enforcement, contractors, technology, business owners, retirees, and just plain nice folks. The club's goal is to locate, document, display, & preserve items from our past. Our members have a variety of different metal detectors that can search on land and water.
What we do
We locate properties that we feel have the potential to hold relics & artifacts that we can recover and preserve. We gain permission from property owners to search -- you just never know what might have been lost in your yard! We want to preserve the history that may be buried before it deteriorates. We also volunteer our services to find missing items (think jewelry) or assist property owners with searches of old homesteads.
Why We Do It
First, metal detecting is our favorite pastime. Since you never know what you'll find when you hunt, it makes our hobby fun & adventurous. Although we're always looking for historical items, we also find old nails, keys, shell casings, Mason jar lids, bottle caps, and pull-tabs which we dispose of properly for the property owner.
Second, we want to save the buried artifacts that are continuing to deteriorate in the ground. It's the times that we find items from our country's early days that really make this hobby fulfilling. At times, we may uncover items from early Colonial Times or from the Civil War. Other times we may find an old coin or an item of jewelry. It's always a lot of fun and very educational.
